Scholarship Applications for Undergraduates

The University awards numerous four-year, one-year, and renewable scholarships based on academic merit, special talents or accomplishments, and financial need.

Entering Freshman Academic Scholarship Application

The completed application for admission, including two references, together with the completed scholarship questions in the application are used to apply for all merit/academic scholarships awarded on a competitive basis to entering freshmen by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, its colleges and departments, and the UT Alumni Association.

Please note: All applicants must apply through the student portal, http://vip.utk.edu by first creating a personalized Vol-in-Progress (VIP) page.  Each student’s VIP page will provide a link to the online application for admission and scholarships. Please note that, although letters of recommendation are not required for the admission part of the application, two recommendations are required for the scholarship part.

The Priority Application Deadline of November 1 is required for entering freshmen who wish to be considered for UT's Chancellor's Scholarships* ,General University and Alumni Scholarships, and College and Departmental Scholarships. The completed application for admission and scholarships, including letters of recommendation and scholarship questions must be submitted by this date to be considered.

*Chancellor's Scholarships include Rogers Scholars, Manning Scholars, Morris Scholars, Neyland Scholars, Bonham Scholars, Roddy Scholars, Holt Scholars, and Tennessee Scholars.


Continuing Undergraduates & Transfer Undergraduate Students

Current UT Student Instructions: The 2013-2014 Continuing & Transfer Student Undergraduate Scholarship Application is now available on MYUTK (under UTK Financial Aid Links select Financial Aid Main Menu). The deadline for current UT students was February 1, 2013.

Transfer applicants who have not yet received an admissions decision but wish to apply for scholarships should print, complete, and return the following file by April 1, 2013 to meet the transfer student scholarship application deadline (please click here).

To be considered for general university and academic college scholarships, students should complete the Continuing and Transfer Student Undergraduate Scholarship Application by February 1 for continuing students and April 1 for transfer students. Questions regarding academic college and departmental scholarships should be directed to the appropriate college or department.
