Applying for Aid to Study Abroad
To apply for financial aid for Study Abroad programs, you should complete the FAFSA as if you will be attending UT. You must also see the Programs Abroad Office for the Study Abroad Financial Aid forms packet.
Can I receive my financial aid in advance to pay for the program fees?
No, federal regulations prohibit an institution from disbursing financial aid until the beginning of the semester. You should check with your program coordinator about postponing program fee payments that will be covered by financial aid until the funds are available.
Can I receive additional financial aid because my Study Abroad program fees are higher than the fees at UT?
The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships can increase your student budget for documented travel expenses not covered by the transportation allowance. Please note that even if an increase in your student budget is approved, an increase in your financial aid is based on the availability of funds. You should contact your Financial Aid Counselor regarding a budget increase. The form for the budget increase is included in the Study Abroad Financial Aid Forms packet from the Programs Abroad Office.
